Rules, Terms & Conditions

Tour de Bello (the "Tour") is a road cycling tour and training camp which uses various cycling routes on public roads around the Bellinger Valley and the Coffs Coast region. Tours run for several days on dates as advertised.

Rides involving groups of cyclists (ranging in number from a few to a couple of dozen riders but in general no more than about a dozen riders per group matched by ability) will be conducted on public roads which are open to normal road traffic. Routes have been selected for their suitability for cycling tour and training rides and for added security and support, rides are often accompanied by a support vehicle.

Tour de Bello rides are restricted to those who are at least 18 years old.

Tour de Bello is run on public roads open to general motor vehicle traffic. There will be no timed sections nor any form of "race-like" performance incentive imposed on riders during the Tour.

Due to the somewhat strenuous nature of cycling over such terrain and distances, all participants will be required to declare that they are in good health and are adequately and appropriately prepared both physically and mentally for the Tour. If a rider has any health issues or doubts prior to the Tour, he/she should immediately seek appropriate medical advice.

Participation in Tour de Bello implies each participant’s express and unreserved acceptance of the rules, terms and conditions.

Registrations for the Tour can be done via the online registration platform and acceptance is subject to availability and approval by Tour de Bello. If required, a hard copy registration form can be provided for completion and return.

Tour de Bello advises that the number of participants on Tour is strictly limited and reserves the right to amend the number of participants on Tour.

At its sole discretion, Tour de Bello can refuse to accept any registration request.

The Tour fees, inclusions and exclusions will be indicated on the Tour's website page.

Tour de Bello reserves the right to reasonably amend the fees at any time. Any amendments will be advised on the Tour's website page.

All fees are inclusive of GST (goods and services tax) at the rate of 10%.

By submitting a booking form (either online or hardcopy) and paying a fee for participation in the Tour you understand and agree to abide by the terms and conditions and the instructions given by event personnel, and by any traffic authorities or police encountered while on Tour.

You shall not be eligible or entitled to participate in the Tour until full payment has been received by Tour de Bello. No payment shall be deemed to have been received until Tour de Bello has received cleared funds.

(b) will not incur or be under any liability whatsoever to you or to any Related Party for any loss, damage or injury to or in respect of any of your property or of any Related Party’s property, except as occasioned by the grossly negligent acts or omissions of the Indemnified Person or its servants, agents, contractors, visitors or invitees.

You are aware of the physically strenuous nature involved in cycling over variable terrain and for long distances on public roads and the risks both mentally and physically.

You confirm you are healthy and fit enough (mentally and physically) to participate in this Tour. You agree that should any medical or physical condition arise prior to the event which is likely to affect your ability to participate, you will withdraw from the Tour.

Tour de Bello strongly recommends that all participants engage in some training and preparation for the Tour, especially if you have not exercised before or for some time. While we have rides to suit varying levels of cycling ability, if you have not exercised before or for some time, you should consult your doctor before commencing your training. As a general guide, the Tour is suitable for club level cyclists that do some regular cycling.

You will be expected to have sufficient experience and skills necessary to ride with others in groups in typical side by side and in single file formation, akin to training rides typically undertaken by cycling clubs in most towns and cities.

Please note that some of the food products given out (e.g. ride snacks) may contain or have traces of nuts and nut oils or may have been made alongside other products containing nuts. Tour de Bello cannot be held responsible for any issues resulting from food allergies. If you have food allergies we recommend bringing your own suitable alternatives. We will endeavour to meet your specific dietary restrictions (if any) as indicated on your booking form.

Cycling in general is a physical activity which involves risks.

Each of the Tour's participants must participate knowing that they will ride on open public roads which involves some hilly terrain with climbs and some rapid descents and at times in close proximity to other riders.

The Tour is being run as an organised training activity and the Tour coach is accredited with Cycling Australia. We recommend all participants hold a current Cycling Australia Ride or Race licence so that all participants and organisers are covered by Cycling Australia's public liability and personal accident insurance. If you do not hold a current Cycling Australia Ride or Race licence at the time of the Tour, Tour de Bello will happily assist those to become a member and have the appropriate insurance coverage - the annual fee for ride membership is $60 (fees subject to change by Cycling Australia).

A copy of the insurance policy is available to all participants at Cycling Australia's website here:

Material damage insurance: Tour de Bello will not be held responsible for the theft, breakage or loss of participants’ personal belongings during the Tour. It is therefore up to each participant, if he/she deems necessary, to take out material damage insurance.

You should also make your own assessment of your own insurance needs and if you consider the cover provided by Cycling Australia membership to be inadequate, it is your responsibility to arrange additional insurance.

The Tour de Bello provides a welcoming and safe environment for people to enjoy their cycling.

Tour de Bello reserves the right at any time to remove you from the Tour or to prevent participants participating in the Tour if, at the Tour de Bello's sole discretion, it considers such action necessary for safety reasons or the proper enjoyment of the Tour by other participants or for any other reasonable reason. No refund of the fees paid shall be made if you act negligently, maliciously, with wilful misconduct or otherwise without due care and attention.

The Tour de Bello will not tolerate sexist, racist or other offensive or threatening behaviour directed towards other participants, Tour crew or members of the public.

You acknowledge that personal accident and personal items insurance is your sole responsibility.

Tour de Bello shall not be liable to you for any loss or damage of or to personal equipment belonging to you, or any indirect or consequential loss or damage whatsoever arising out of you participating in the Tour; or for any loss of business; revenue or profit; loss of reputation; anticipated savings or wasted expenditure; pledges made on your behalf or by you to other parties. Tour de Bello will not be liable for any actions of third parties.

You accept that any mechanical support received on your bike from Tour de Bello, partners, participants or other third parties is at your own discretion and you will not hold anyone else responsible for any subsequent bike malfunctions or resulting injury.

You accept that should your bike be transferred in or on any vehicle during or to and from the Tour, you accept it is placed and transferred in or on the vehicle at your own risk and Tour de Bello is not liable for any damage caused during this process.

Nothing in this agreement shall affect our liability for death or personal injury, fraud, or any other liability to the extent it cannot be excluded or limited by law.

Tour de Bello reserves the right to alter the scheduled start time of Tour rides. In the event of a change of start time participants will be notified of the revised start time with as much notice as reasonably practicable. No refund in full or in part shall be made for any change in start time.

You are aware Tour de Bello reserves the right to alter the Tour ride distances, change the Tour routes, or make any other amendment to the Tour rides and schedule that they deem necessary. Any change to the Tour rides will be communicated to you at the Tour or sooner if practicable.

Tour de Bello reserves the right to amend the Tour format or schedule or cancel the Tour in part or in full due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control or for any safety related reason. In the event of the Tour being cancelled in full it shall provide the participant with a full refund less a reasonable management fee, with no further liability whatsoever arising from such cancellation. Part cancellations (e.g. cancellation or cutting short a day's scheduled ride due to dangerous weather conditions, other hazards or at the request of emergency services) will not be eligible for a refund.

All decisions by Tour de Bello, its employees or agents are considered final. Accordingly, you agree to comply with all Tour rules and all instructions and guidelines given by Tour personnel. You acknowledge and agree that Tour de Bello will organise and run the Tour and will have sole authority and be the final arbiter on all decisions relating to the safety, running and organisation of the Tour.

For safety reasons and to ensure the Tour goes smoothly, each participant must present himself / herself with the following mandatory equipment on each day of the Tour:

  • A bicycle in good mechanical order, suitable for road riding in groups. It must be fitted with two very well working brakes and have gearing suitable for riding over the variable gradient terrain that will be encountered during the Tour.
    • While the Tour mechanic will be able to assist with most common mechanical issues, it is recommended you thoroughly check your bike well before arriving on Tour to avoid the disappointment of a major mechanical issue preventing you from participating. In particular take note of the condition of your tyres.
  • A cycling helmet to the requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZ 2063;
  • Some form of identification (e.g. your CA membership card, a driver licence or a NSW photo card or a hand written card with your details to aid any emergency service personnel in the event it be required);
  • At least one (non-glass) water bottle.

To ensure your safety as well as that of the other participants, it is strictly forbidden to participate in Tour rides with the following:

  • A bicycle equipped with time trial / triathlon bars;
  • An electric bicycle or motor assisted pedal cycle;
  • A recumbent or prone bicycle
  • Headphones or similar devices

You shall remain alert of your surroundings and attentive to instructions given by Tour organisers or other road authorities encountered while on Tour.

In order to respect the environment and the natural surroundings in which the Tour takes place, it is strictly forbidden to leave litter (e.g. paper, plastic wrappers, old tubes, CO2 canisters) on the route.

All rides will have a support vehicle and participants will be expected to keep any and all rubbish with them (i.e. in your jersey pocket) until they are able to either place it in the support vehicle, in for-public-use rubbish bins or dispose of thoughtfully once they have returned to the Tour accommodation.

Tour de Bello reserves the right to take images and audio recordings of participants on Tour and obtain feedback about your Tour experience and use those images, audio recordings and feedback in any reasonable manner to further promote the Tour and associated activities of the organiser without your permission nor any compensation. We will of course use such images, audio recordings and feedback in a reasonable, thoughtful and appropriate manner so that it is not detrimental to the participant’s dignity. If you are concerned about use of your images, please let us know and we will respect your reasonable wishes.
